Even though the major industries across the globe have suffered a major setback due to the onset of COVID-19, there is still a good amount of hope for the future. Clinging on to this hope is Apparel Logistics which is predicted to make it big with exemplary Supply Chain Management in the coming years.
In a recent interview, Rahul Mehra, the CEO and Founder of AWL India, conjectured, “The manner in which apparel industry embraces high-end serviceability in giving a shape to the overall supply chain configuration will decide the value of the business in the coming years.” He further emphasized that there will be a relentless effort towards building an efficient supply chain that is capable of responding quickly to the market demands. “Nowadays personalized style is no longer the monopoly of only wealthy customers,” exclaimed Rahul.
He explained that in order to meet the increasing and rapidly evolving consumer demands which is what the Apparel industry thrives on, we will be expediting our core functioning, focusing highly on automation of the overall warehouse management. Using AI and high-end software, most of the crucial tasks can be centralized in no time, ensuring end-to-end visibility. When asked specifically about the key outcomes, he listed “Increased labor productivity, increased on-time shipments, improved visibility and accuracy, improved space utilization,” as some of the major benefits. The end result as described by him will be “to provide a seamless shopping and customer service experience to the consumers who prefer to shop from the comfort of their rooms.”
When asked about the role of 3PL in this sector, he answered, “It is invaluable to have a partner who cares as much about your business as you do.” “Given that consumer demand is an all-time high, a 3PL contribution can help the apparel supply chain to be perfectly aligned and responsive and can aid in accurate order fulfillment. Thus, outsourcing any form of facilities that cannot be performed in-house will be a great investment.
